A few years ago, Marvel and Netflix made a deal to create several interconnected Marvel Cinematic Universe TV shows created for Netflix. The first two of them, Daredevil and Jessica jones have already released their first seasons on Netflix.
However, I have not seen anything specific about home video releases (Blu-ray and / or DVD), and more than 6 months have passed since the first season Daredevil . Marvel announces plans to release these series on Blu-ray?
Netflix usually waits a period of 6 to 12 months, and in some cases more, to release copies of the DVD / Blu-ray of its original series. This is due to the fact that they want to replenish demand as much as possible before it becomes reasonable to sell them to other suppliers (Amazon), otherwise they are likely to see a drop in traffic. With other TV shows, such as Orange Is The New Black and House of Cards, you can see that this is not unusual for a DVD / Blu-ray release, and so we can expect the same for Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
Interestingly, the first season of Daredevil is available for broadcast on the Amazon. So maybe Netflix plans to sell streaming to Amazon before releasing them to disk.
It is also available for purchase on iTunes.
Therefore, I assume that DVD / Blu-ray will be the last released version, as they can make people buy it first in iTunes.
Amazon offers Blu-ray Daredevil Season 1 for pre-order. Release Date 8/8/16. This will make them believe they are coming out, but with a longer delay than other Netflix features.
Marvel and Walt Disney Home Entertainment announced the release of Blu-ray “Daredevils: Complete First Season” featuring Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Wall, Elden Henson, Vincent D'Onofrio and Rosario Dawson. The 13th episode of the first season of street dramatic comics on the streets of November 8th.
