This article shows you how to pair two horses in Minecraft. Having tamed two horses, they can be given golden apples, happen to them and get a foal. You can breed horses in all versions of Minecraft (on a computer, mobile device and console).

Taming a horse

First you need to find the horse itself. To do this, I think it will not be difficult, because it can be found in the biome Plains and Savannah. Then you need to come closer to it and sit on it, but note that you won’t be able to tame it the first time, so we advise you to feed it with apples or wheat before that, and then try to sit not on it to tame it. This may take several attempts.

If you manage to tame her, then particles of hearts will appear near her and she will not try to "throw you off" anymore.

You can also put on a tamed horse armor: leather, iron, gold or diamond. At the same time, you can craft only leather armor in a workbench, other types can be found in treasuries, etc.

To put on armor you need to open the horse’s interface (hold it for a long time or press the “open” button). In the interface just below the horse saddle slot, you should see it as an armor slot.

Now just click on the item of armor and it will automatically be in the desired slot and the armor will appear on the horse.

You can also attach a chest to a mule or a donkey by holding it with your finger with a chest in your hand.

Remember that after this you can’t remove the chest and it is almost 2 times smaller than the inventory of a small chest, but it is still very useful.

To open its interface you just need to ride a horse and click on the "to inspire". The horse’s interface will open, in which the chest icon will appear. There you can put any" trash ".

Description Edit

There are various colors of horses. The game separately selects the presence and location of spots or tan marks (5 options), the main color of the coat (7 colors), the color of the legs (about 4) and the markings on the face (about 8 varieties), which gives a huge number of possible combinations of characters. The horse's parameters (health, jump height, running speed) do not depend on its color, but depend on the pedigree. Horses and mules can jump over the fence.

Horses have more elaborate models than most other mobs, and can perform some actions: stand on their hind legs, showing discontent, eat grass and swing their tail. Horses are spawned only in a plain or savannah biome.

Donkey and Mule Edit

As a rarer version of a horse, a donkey may appear. A mule appears when a horse and a donkey are crossed. A donkey and / or a mule can be grown (by feeding wheat or apples), saddled and tamed, but you can’t equip it with armor. But on the donkeys and mules, chests can be attached by right-clicking on the donkey while holding the chest in your hand (you cannot remove the chest). To open the chest, you need to click on a donkey or PKM mule, holding. Shift. Then the donkey’s inventory will open, but it’s 2 times smaller than the inventory of a small chest.

Other horses Edit

In the game files you can find a skeleton horse and a zombie horse. These varieties do not spawn, but can be obtained by commands (only from version 1.7.2 and higher):

- Zombie Horse - / summon EntityHorse

- Skeleton Horse - / summon EntityHorse

Such horses cannot be tamed or equipped with armor or a chest, however, you can spawn equipped and tamed:

- Zombie Horse - / summon EntityHorse

, Tame: 1> - Skeleton Horse - / summon EntityHorse

Usage Edit

Like a pig, you can sit on a horse by right-clicking on it (just an empty hand!) Wild horses will discard the player from themselves, but after a number of attempts, the horse is tamed and no longer seeks to discard the player. The player can press ⇧ Left Shift to get off the horse, or hold Space to make her jump, and the strength of the jump depends on how much space to hold. When the space is clamped, the experience scale is filled with a blue line from left to right, and reaching the end (maximum jump force), it quickly goes back 2 cells (these cells become yellow during selection) and slowly begins to fall further, and the further slower. The jump will be made when the space is released. A horse can overcome obstacles up to one block high without jumping.

A saddle can be worn on a tamed horse to control the movement of the buttons W A S D (default), and horse armor made of one of three materials: iron, gold or diamonds, giving the horse protection. In 13w18a, the craft was removed and now it can only be found in chests.

The player on the horse cannot harm her and can attack and break blocks through the horse.

With a leash a horse can be led along, while the player can use other objects, it is not necessary to hold the rope in his hands. Pressing RMB on the fence will tie the horse to the fence, which will not allow it to go far. Hitting the place where the rope is attached to the fence will throw off the leash and free the horse. If the horse is taken far enough away from the fence to which it is attached, the rope will “tear” and fall out.

When a player is on a horse, the hunger indicator is replaced by special hearts - the horse’s health, and instead of a bar of experience, an indicator of the strength of the jump is displayed. Horses can recover their health over time, and a horse can be cured by giving it sugar, wheat, any kind of apples or a sheaf of hay.

When a player is already sitting in the saddle, pressing RMB on another horse instantly transfers the player to a new horse. Also works with saddled pigs.

The horse can swim and swim if the player, holding the W button (by default), sits on it, however, it drowns at this time, and if the player on the horse gets into the water with his head, he will get off the horse. Thus, sitting on a horse, it is difficult to overcome obstacles, and it is much easier to do this with a leash.

Horses jump in different ways (from 1 to 5 blocks in height). It is possible to find such horses without breeding.

Features Edit

The minimum possible number of health units is 15maximum - 30, the average - 22,5. Formula:

15 + rand (0, 7) + rand (0, 8), here rand (0, 7) means: choose a random integer from zero to 7 inclusive

Speed (blocks per second)

Minimum - 4,837maximum - 14,512medium - 9,675. Maximum and minimum are almost unattainable.

10.75 × (0.44999998807907104 + rand (0, 1) × 0.3 + rand (0, 1) × 0.3 + rand (0, 1) × 0.3), rand (0, 1) returns a real number from zero to one

Do not confuse the strength of the jump and the height of the jump. The height is calculated every time you jump, it depends on the strength, but there is no calculation formula, as such, only the program code. Minimum Strength - 0,4maximum - 1,0medium - 0,7. This is equivalent to the jump height in blocks: 1,153, 5,919 and 3,124 respectively.

0.4000000059604645 + rand (0, 1) × 0.2 + rand (0, 1) × 0.2 + rand (0, 1) × 0.2, rand (0, 1) returns a real number from zero to one

Calculation of characteristics during reproduction

When breeding, the characteristics of both parents are taken, the temporal characteristics of the new horse are calculated (according to the formulas above) and the arithmetic average of these three numbers is found.

For example, the speed of the first parent is 12and the second - 13. Then the formula for calculating the offspring speed (in blocks) will look like this:

(12 + 13 + 10.75 × (0.44999998807907104 + rand (0, 1) × 0.3 + rand (0, 1) × 0.3 + rand (0, 1) × 0.3)) / 3 . Hence, the minimum possible speed is 9,946maximum - 13,171medium - 11,558. Compare with possible horse speeds with natural spawning.

When crossing two horses at a speed 13,5 we can get a horse at a speed in this range: minimal - 10,612maximum - 13,838medium - 12,225.

Donkeys with natural spawn have the following characteristics:

  • jump power: 0,5 (jump height 1,708 blocks)
  • speed: 7,524,
  • health is calculated according to the formula above (like horses).

When breeding, the characteristics of donkeys and mules are considered the same as for foals.

Descendant's suit (color, spots)

The color of horses consists of color and spots. Colors of all 7spotting options 5. Therefore, all possible suits 35. More often than not, a descendant inherits color and spots from parents, and he can get spots from one, color from another. There is a chance 11,11% (one in nine) that the descendant will receive a new color. But spots are necessarily inherited from one of the parents.

Breeding Edit

For breeding, you need to feed the tamed horses with any golden apples (both simple and reinforced) or golden carrots. When breeding from horses, it may be necessary to remove saddle and armor from them. You can cross donkeys and horses, and you get a mule. Mules cannot be propagated.

Foals cannot be saddled or put on armor or a saddle. They can be grown by feeding wheat, apples, sugar or sheaves of hay.

A descendant may have better characteristics than parents, such as greater maximum health. When breeding tamed horses, a subsequently bred descendant needs to be tamed.

Food Edit

Food can treat horses. In addition, food accelerates horse growth (if it is a baby). Undead horses cannot be fed and raised, even if spawned.

Tip: If you want the horse to grow faster, it is better to feed her one wheat each than immediately give a sheaf of hay.

Equipment Edit

Horses, donkeys and mules have equipment. It can be opened by clicking on a horse, donkey or PKM mule with ⇧ Shift held, saddle (you can also open horse inventory with horse armor), or if you sit on a horse and open the inventory as usual. In the armor cells, you can equip a saddle on a horse / donkey / mule. Horses also have a compartment for horse armor. You can equip a chest on donkeys and mules by clicking on a donkey or mule with a chest. This activates the donkey / mule inventory. The chest cannot be removed. Horses cannot activate inventory.

Horse riding

Horse parameters (speed, jump height and health) do not depend on its color, but depend on the pedigree. Horses and donkeys can jump over the fence.

To ride a horse, you just need to sit on it and control it like an ordinary character, using the control buttons.

You can even bounce on it by simply holding down the jump button. A horse can jump over two blocks high, which is very useful!

And to get off the horse you just need to double-click the squat button on the right side of the screen.

Horse armor painting

To paint horse armor you will need leather horse armor (craft it a little higher). Get a boiler and place it in any place for you, and then tap on it with a bucket of water.

Now tap on this boiler with water with one of any dyes (you can also mix colors), after which the water in the boiler will be repainted.

It remains only to tap the horse’s armor itself and it will immediately be repainted in the desired color.

To put on armor you need to open the horse’s interface and put the item in a special slot, simply by clicking on it.

Your horse will immediately take on a new look and will become even more beautiful =)

Benefits:

  • Can ride
  • Gives skin (horse armor can be crafted from this skin, some kind of animal husbandry: /)
  • Runs fast and jumps high
  • Easy to feed

Disadvantages:

  • Rare enough
  • Need a saddle and armor
  • Difficult to breed
  • Discards if it enters deep water
